Pressure Sensitive Adhesives (PSA)

Collagraf has developed a line of innovative Pressure Sensitive hot melt adhesives. These are special adhesives that are sensitive to pressure through which bonding between surfaces is achieved; the adhesion strength does not solely depend on the tackiness of the hot melt but also on the degree of pressure exerted at the time of bonding.

They do not require any kind of activation, unlike other types of adhesives that instead exploit the evaporation of water or solvents or other specific chemical reactions to bond supports. Setting times are fast, and open times are practically permanent as they are always active adhesives. Collagraf’s pressure-sensitive adhesives are capable of effectively withstanding even sudden temperature changes, allowing them to be used in a wide climatic range, resisting both heat and cold without altering their adhesion level.

The adhesive capability is ensured by both their characteristic of adapting to the adhering substrate and the resistance to deformation they maintain even under stress. The company, specializing in the production of hot melt glues and adhesives for decades, conducts numerous tests to ensure maximum performance for their customers’ products.

To maintain an adequate level of adhesion, Collagraf’s pressure-sensitive adhesives are characterized by their excellent viscoelastic properties that combine viscous-type reactions (deformation depends on temperature) with elastic-type responses, precisely adapting to the support. These types of adhesives have a variable viscosity depending on the uses and applicators employed and a softening point between 70° and 90°C. This makes Collagraf’s pressure-sensitive adhesives a top-level product among always active adhesives with permanent tackiness.

They find wide application in many sectors thanks to their characteristic of being permanently active adhesives, ensuring a permanent open time. They are used in paper converting, packaging, construction, labeling, assembly of plastic components (especially large ones), furniture and mattress production, manufacturing of absorbent pads and diapers.

They are available in blocks (melt blocks) or in pillows/lumps (smaller format).
